What to say the first time you meet her?

In an arranged marriage, it is always trouble, when you think of what to say or expect when you meet him/her for the first time. I just thought I would pen down my thoughts on this, so that in case you are in such a situation, this may help you in a way. These are just the things I would do. They are in no way the best way to proceed or any kind of a guideline. It is just something you might want to give a thought to before you meet him/her.


1) Be very honest in the initial few meetings and let him/her know what to expect - so that there are no surprises or skeletons in the closet later on

2) Make the expectations very clear - eating/ settling in India/abroad , parents - who is gonna stay with who and for how long etc.

3) Talk about hobbies and friends - this will go a long way in finding the compatibility

4) Be prepared for receiving a NO from the other side - always better now, than later

5) And the most important of all - be prepared to say "No". You dont want to say "yes" to a jerk just because of parental pressure, pressure of having been in the process of a spouse search for too long or because of hurting the other person. Remember, this is arranged marriage. It does not mean the first guy/gal you meet is "the one"
